  1. Get accessibility checker to warn about text that has been formatted with manually created styles

Is it possible to make the accessibility checker warn users when they create new styles to format text, instead of using (or modifying) the built in word styles?
    - as manually created styles, eg. headings, can't be recognised by screen readers.

  4. The legally blind need large tablets yet you do not have a read-only Word for large tablets larger than 10.1".

Provide a Word read-only program for large tablets (10.5") and is compatible with the Apple files management system. I am trying to load a large collection of hymn texts and psalms on an Ipad Third Generation Air for a nun who is legally blind and needs 36 point type. We want "read-only." The texts are too large to use Apple pages; they make the files 40 times larger. It seems you make a Word app for smaller tablets, please expand it to larger ones. It will greatly aid the visually impaired.

  6. Optional switch between the ribbon and "old" drop down menus and toolbars

Each time I use Word and Excel, I long for the demise of the "ribbon" and the return of plain, normal drop down menus and customisable tool bars. These were far more accessible, and still the norm in many none Microsoft applications.

Please replace the ribbon in all Office applications with traditional drop down menus and icons, or make it option. I use a specialist trackerball, often with difficulty due to hand and arm coordination difficulties, so ask Microsoft to make this change.

  8. Problems creating accessible pdfs with Word 2016 on a mac.

I have problems creating accessible pdfs from Word 2016 on my mac. The document passes the accessibility checker, but the pdf does not have correct formatting - text is on top of each other.

I contact the Disability Support desk and they want me to contact Adobe, but I see the problem in Acrobat Pro and in Preview on my mac so I believe the problem is in how the pdf is created by Word. Have others had this problem?

  10. Keyboard options needed

Would love to see a new ergo keyboard designed for those who are visually impaired. I love my Microsoft wave keyboard but because I’m visually impaired it’s sometimes tough to use. Would love to see a version of it that is accessible.

  11. Grammar check improvement

When I type person-first language in Microsoft word (e.g. persons who are blind) it flags the phrase as "too wordy." Please integrate person-first language into your grammar check algorithm so it stops flagging my person-first language. Thanks!

  12. Have "word count zones" in Word

As a disabled student, and a former assistive technology assessor who would step in when the dyslexia study skills tutor was ill, I see an opportunity to improve Word.

    1. Have word count zones which have an optional warning message / block on exceeding the set word count.

    2. Assign a word count and colour to listed topics, and have alerts.

I would support students to look at the marking criteria percentage for each topic, the overall word count, calculate the word count for each topic, and allocate each topic a colour.

This worked really well and students liked it.

    I feel…

  13. Can't use keyboard to select what table elements to delete in Word for Mac 16.23 (190309).

In a Word table, pressing the "Delete" key brings up a dialog where the user selects what precisely is deleted and/or how the resulting cells are configured.

In previous versions of Word for Mac, the radio buttons could be selected with the arrow keys.

This functionality appears to have been removed in recent updates (including the one captioned above).

This should be reinstated as it is an accessibility issue for users for whom mouse / trackpad use is restricted.

I am extremely disappointed and annoyed at the lack of help I received from Marilou when I called her on 14 May.
Over the past more than 15 years I have always had excellent help from all of your team dealing with disability issues. In fact I have sung your praises to many about how all of your staff have always gone out of their way to help and resolve any problems.
Unfortunately, this cannot be said for this agent.
I have never had the misfortune of such an unhelpful agent, who refused to listen to my problems with ms…

  16. Please provide keyboard access for selecting photos once they are inserted into a Word 2016 document so that Alt Text can be added. So fand

Please add the ability to select/highlight a photo with the keyboard once it is inserted into a Word doc. Presently this can only be done with a mouse or trackpad, and desktop computers don't have trackpads so those users are left out. This task is needed for accessing the Format Picture process so that alt text can be added to an inserted photo.

  17. Microsoft Company should be able to be reached by emails from disgruntled customers with disabilities.

I personally purchased a Toshiba Laptop with a CD player and Ten Key for my online schooling then became disabled and had to stop going to school online. I also purchased Office 365 for an additional 120.00 dollars. I got the computer home, now mind you this was in 2013, I tried my best to install the office program and to this day in 2019 it is on the computer I purchased and I still cannot get in it came with several months of Office 365 free. My point is, I cannot get into the program to take advantage of…

  18. How to Find Musical Symbols Using Microsoft Word

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I went to the "Symbols" section on Microsoft Word; and I have had trouble finding musical symbols, like notes and clefs. Do you know any commands that will help me find musical symbols on Microsoft Word? If you have the answers, please let me have the exact instructions. In other words, list all of the exact commands, listing the buttons to press on a computer.

After you get all of the instructions, please send the information to me as soon as possible.

I thank you in advance and hope to receive your correspondence.

    Best regards,

    W.…

  19. Ability to change Office Toolbar colors while working in High Contrast mode

Currently, Office themes (in Word, Excel, PPT) are disabled while working in High Contrast mode. Subsequently, the HC users cannot modify the colors of Tool bars and Menu bars in Office products. Please consider adding more flexibility so that the user can manage the Office themes and/or tool/menu bar colors in Word/Excel/PPT while working in HC modes. Thanks.

  20. Accessibility Features for Publisher

I am working in Publisher 2010 (Part of MS Office Professional Plus 2010) and I am looking for resources on creating accessible content. I noticed that there is no accessibility checker. Also, even when I used defined parts like "Headings" and then export to a PDF, those tags are not preserved. I was considering upgrading to the new publisher but I don't see any signs that that has those features either. I am very well versed in using the accessibility features and creating accessible content from Word and PPT, so I was expecting the same functionality in Publisher.

    It seems…
