  1. Clinician Looking For Game Access

    Good morning!

I was instructed that this was the best venue to make this request.

My name is Bethany- I am a program assistant in the technical services department at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). The role of our department is to promote the use of adaptive technology and toys with children and youth with special needs. We were incredibly excited to purchase a couple of your adaptive gaming controllers, and we now actually have one available for loan through our Adaptive Toy & Tech Resource Centre, so that families can trial it before deciding whether it is…

  2. Playing Age of Empires: Definitive Edition Nonvisually

    Hello,
There is no topic for "Games", so I hope this goes to the correct people.
The new Age of Empires: Definitive Edition comes with self-voicing menus and narration which makes the game 85% accessible. There are a set of minor changes that need to be added, such as navigating the unit menu with the keyboard, reading tooltips when arrowing over units, making space select or click by default, and adding a grid view to the map. Other than this, all menus are completely readable, units are all labeled, there is keyboard access on everything but the unit menu and…

  3. Xbox One - Accessibility - Audio balancing for left-right

The Xbox One already provides a lot of features in terms of accessibility.

One feature that is missing in my opinion is the option to manually balance the audio for left-right. Many Microsoft devices (e.g. phones, workstations) already offer the opportunity to balance it yourself.

The reason i'm asking is that my own hearing is slightly impaired (25-30%) on one side (right) rendering headphones practically useless for many games. In my idea this is a relative simple feature to add to the accessibility options, making the Xbox One system more and more accessible to all members in the public, including…

  4. I'd like a follow up from the accessibility team to my earlier post.

The only response i'm seeing from your team is: "Thanks for sharing this feedback with us <name>. We're going to pass this information on to the engineering team. Please continue to leave your feedback here and upvote posts that you agree with."

I would like to see some more feedback on what you are actually doing with the feedback. Please consider my earlier suggestion and follow-up with that message on what the current status is - is it feasible? not feasible? what did the engineering team say of this suggestion?

    Thank you!

  5. Remote desktop access.

Narrator should be able to support the use of remote desktop. In a similar method to that used by Jaws. Synthesized speech would not be sent over the remote audio device to the local system, instead, the synthesizer commands would be sent back to the local synthesizer using one of the RDP protocols. This functionality is already supported in RDP. The support just needs to be added to Narrator.

  6. Idea for Xbox Adaptive controller

Hello everyone , my name is Luis , I am cerebral palsy disabled. As a consequence of this I´m not playing confortable with the common pad. I know about Xbox adaptive controller but in my case I think that I have an idea better for people like me . Let me tell you my idea:

My main problem is use the buttons and controllers in horizontal , like a common pad, because you have to press the buttons fast , and that is a huge problem because i can´t move my hand and my fingers fast in this position, so…

  7. Allow HID/USB devices' buttons to remap to game

All HID/USB devices' button to be re-mapped via XBox Accessory app, just like the switch inputs on back of Adaptive Controller.

  8. High contrast buttons for Xbox Elite Controller 2

I like the Elite controller, but the dark grey lettering on the black buttons is terrible. I had to have my controller modified to the proper coloured ABXY buttons so i can see them. i still cant see the labels on the little buttons. why do you not offer the option to get the coloured abxy buttons? or at least a high contrast version, not dark grey on black buttons. even just white letterings would be an improvement. i cant spend over 200 dollars on a controller i will need someone to take apart and modify so i can see…

  10. Xbox Series X Optical Port (S/PDIF)

Microsoft recently confirmed they will be removed the S/PDIF port from the upcoming Xbox Series X. I find this extremely disappointing. My wife uses a Cochlear Implant and we have relied on that port for a separate streaming device that streams audio directly to her hearing device. That allows her to enjoy the benefits of the console without having to mess with a lot of janky cables or settings. I cannot believe that Microsoft, who has been proactive in the area of accessibility, would have been this short sighted to not consider that there may be other applications for that…

  11. In Copilot - disable controller buttons and/or map multiple buttons to the same function

I'd like to request the ability to disable controller buttons or map multiple buttons to the same function while using copilot.

First off - I believe copilot is a wonderful concept. But, in certain situations it is limited by having a complete 1 to 1 correlation between each controller. If we were able to simplify the secondary controller by disabling buttons or alternatively mapping the same function on multiple buttons I believe we would be able to expand the copilot function to a broad user base.

  12. Vibration motors

My son uses the adaptive controller, which is absolutely amazing by the way. The only thing that is really missing is the rumble force feedback that you get from regular controllers. It would be awesome to have a separate pack that had the rumble motors in it that you could Velcro to your arm or Wherever so you could feel the shots being fired from your gun. My son uses a proximity sensor so there is really no tactile feedback at all and I think if there was a way to introduce the feedback you get from the regular controllers…

  13. On blueray player, allow different audio tracks between xbox controller and tv speakers for purpose of personal audio description

Hi, it would be amazing, using the blue-ray player on xbox one s, to have the audio description soundtrack playing through headphones plugged into the xbox controller whilst the normal track plays from the TV emulating what you get in the cinema. It would require running two soundtracks a the same time which might create syncing issues, but it if could be done it would be fantastic. Thanks. Watching films with other people is important and having them describe it is often not the best solution.

  14. Bite Switch

Hello, I am a disabled person who cannot use his hands. I need special apparatus to use a computer. The most important of these is the bite switch. But now there are only 2 bite switch manufacturers in the world. These bite switches are unfortunately not durable. Breaks down very quickly. This is a big problem for us. Microsoft has carried out many important projects for the disabled. Can you make a durable bite switch for us? Maybe it may not be important to you but it is very important for us to socialize

  15. OCR on xbox

Hi, it would be fantastic if narrator gained the NVDA like ability of using OCR on visual text so that, with a certain button combo or in narrater mode, the printed words could be at least read out. A lot of blind gamers use their windows machines connected to their xboxes to do this. It would be good to remove the need for extra hardware.

  17. Shortcut for controller and narrater mode

Hi, I love the fact that narrater is on xbox but one thing I find really annoying is the double click shortcut to switch between narrater mode and controller mode. If you don't get the timing just right you either end up returning to the home screen or to the loaded app/game. It would be great if this shortcut was revised as it's also ergonomically awkward to access considering the amount one uses it in places such as Microsoft edge.

Thanks for all the amazing work.

  18. I have an idea for a video game that does not require joystick functions.

Please make an Xbox game that does not require the use of a joystick for kids (people) with high cognitive ability but low physical ability. My son uses two switches connected to the adaptive controller; he could maybe use three. Create a fun game where acceleration/forward movement is automatic, and where buttons are used for steering and/or jumping. Do not require backing up; do not make it go too fast. Create a variety of terrains (not tracks - too hard to navigate) with a variety of obstacles to go over/through. There are hardly any games like this on Xbox or…

  19. Request for OCR in Narrator on the Xbox

Many blind gamers are streaming the Xbox screen to the computer through the Xbox app in Windows 10, and run OCR on the picture from the Xbox to read menus in games out loud. It would be fantastic if Narrator on the Xbox could do OCR on the screen in games, so blind gamers can get menus and other kind of text read out loud directly on the Xbox, instead of streaming the screen to a pc to run OCR on the screen.

  20. Sponsored/Donated Adaptive Controllers

I was really moved by the Adaptive Controller campaign. It is so amazing to see a company pushing the boundaries and making their product more inclusive.

I don't know anyone in my personal life who needs this device but I wanted to reach out and ask if you've thought about 'sponsored devices' or creating a program that allows people to purchase a device for a person who needs it. Perhaps continuing the organizational partnerships you've already established to help get the devices to the right people?

I'm not sure this is the right channel to start this discussion but I…
