  1. Fix bug that stops Accessible Word docs creating inaccessible PDFs when exported

If an accessible Word document is exported to PDF the resulting PDF won't allow reflow on any page that contains an image. Image-free pages will reflow in Adobe Reader allowing visually impaired readers to read at a high magnification, but pages containing images simply spill off the screen, condemning the VI reader to significant left-right scrolling.

  2. Fix bug in LinkedIn that strips out alternative text for images when I post a link in my feed

When I post a link to my blog post on my LinkedIn feed, LinkedIn strips out the alternative text for the featured image.

And replaces it with image alternative text of "No alt text provided for this image."

The featured image has appropriate link text. I don't understand why LinkedIn would remove it.

  3. Accessibility settings within Teams - Scrollbar

A colleague has come to me with this issue... MS, please help her:

Teams has an auto-hide functionality. I'm trying to turn that off. I want the scrollbar to be visible at all times, even when the app is still visible but I'm in a different app. Compare Outlook, which always shows the scrollbar even when I'm in Teams or any other application has focus.

In addition, the scrollbar needs to be wider. In both cases, this is an accessibility issue, especially since Teams does not respect the OS setting to keep scrollbars visible.

Finally, the third issue is both…

  5. Markdown systemwide for rich text writing and reading

[Markdown](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markdown), is a plain text method of entering and reading text. It's mainly used on the web, but I'd love for it to be all over Windows, so that people, blind or otherwise, can focus on writing and reading, have complete control of formatting, and finally have at least one way for braille users to know what text styles are used, and to easily use them too. It can even be used by sighted people who are now used to using basic Markdown symbols.

Windows has begun adding features so that users can focus on tasks more. Focus…

  7. Clinician Looking For Game Access

    Good morning!

I was instructed that this was the best venue to make this request.

My name is Bethany- I am a program assistant in the technical services department at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). The role of our department is to promote the use of adaptive technology and toys with children and youth with special needs. We were incredibly excited to purchase a couple of your adaptive gaming controllers, and we now actually have one available for loan through our Adaptive Toy & Tech Resource Centre, so that families can trial it before deciding whether it is…

  8. Improve navigability of the LinkedIn home page feed items

When viewing feed items on the LinkedIn home page with NVDA and Firefox, it is hard to navigate from post to post. The start of each post has neither a landmark, nor a heading. The only headings after the main one are those of shared articles, and possibly comments. But the actual post content, usually above the shared article, is skipped over. And there is no easy way to find it. Other posts that don't have a shared item are skipped alltogether by conventional navigation means. Please improve this so that the front page becomes more navigable.

  9. Allow me to edit "Other" on MS Forms

We are considering changing away from MS Forms to SurveyMonkey because MS Forms does not allow us to edit the text on an "Other" field.

We are a charity that uses MS Forms to understand our participants' experiences of our activities. We collect diversity data to ensure we're reaching a range of people and communities. Currently, our forms say things like "Male/Female/Other-please state". Using the word "Other" in this context is considered not good practice. But for some reason, MS Forms won't allow us to edit the word "Other". Please can you change it so we can edit the word…

  10. Reducing background game music and automatically control the Xbox One in complicated games for blind and visually impaired gamers

    Dear Microsoft,

I have some suggestions on improving the accessibility on Xbox One for blind and visually impaired gamers. I am a visually impaired gamer. I like to play Final Fantasy especially Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy. For Final Fantasy XIII-2, I have noticed that the background game music is very loud, and it is sometimes difficult for me to hear the character’s footsteps, depending on the music and the surface the character is navigating on. I strongly suggest for you to add an accessibility feature on the Xbox one console to have the ability to reduce background game music, so…

  11. MS Office color contrast insufficiency issue for combination bar/line charts...

For MS Office (not just Excel), would it be possible to allow for choice of separate fill/outline colors for lines (for all compound types or even just for some) used in combination bar/line graphs or wherever lines are being used to convey meaning? It is currently a challenge to select a single line color that will contrast well against the various colors of the bars AND that of the graph background. What works for darker colors will not work for those that are lighter, and vice versa. Thank you.

  12. Xbox One - Accessibility - Audio balancing for left-right

The Xbox One already provides a lot of features in terms of accessibility.

One feature that is missing in my opinion is the option to manually balance the audio for left-right. Many Microsoft devices (e.g. phones, workstations) already offer the opportunity to balance it yourself.

The reason i'm asking is that my own hearing is slightly impaired (25-30%) on one side (right) rendering headphones practically useless for many games. In my idea this is a relative simple feature to add to the accessibility options, making the Xbox One system more and more accessible to all members in the public, including…

  13. Playing Age of Empires: Definitive Edition Nonvisually

    Hello,
There is no topic for "Games", so I hope this goes to the correct people.
The new Age of Empires: Definitive Edition comes with self-voicing menus and narration which makes the game 85% accessible. There are a set of minor changes that need to be added, such as navigating the unit menu with the keyboard, reading tooltips when arrowing over units, making space select or click by default, and adding a grid view to the map. Other than this, all menus are completely readable, units are all labeled, there is keyboard access on everything but the unit menu and…

  14. Text to Speech Hot Key - Read Highlighted Text Only

    Hi there,

I'd like to follow up about my inquiry to include a feature on Narrator to read highlighted text only by pressing a hot key. This feature does not currently exist, but instead, Narrator reads off all sorts of content which is distracting. I simply need to be able to highlight text, press a hot key, and have that text read without the distracting announcements that Narrator produces each time you switch windows, select content, etc. I work on secure computers that don't allow plug-ins or the adding of additional software to enable this capability, and would greatly appreciate…

  17. Make sure that Narrator and other screen readers can work with Surface headphones 2

I just obtained the newly released Surface Headphones 2. I paired them to my laptop with Bluetooth. At first, I did not attach them to the laptop with the 3.5 MM cable. I have found that, when in bluetooth mode, the headphones cut off the screen reader speech at beginnings of the word. I'm assuming that the headphones are trying to save battery by doing this. However it is disconcerting to find that beginning of content is cut off. For example, if I were to give read title command to my screen reader while focused on I would hear something…

  18. Add the option to use pictures for answer choices in Forms

When considering a Universal Design to Learning approach, the ability to use visuals (pictures) for an answer choice in a form would assist our visual learners and allow for alternate access and assessment. For some students, reading is incredibly difficult without an accompanying visual.

  19. I'd like a follow up from the accessibility team to my earlier post.

The only response i'm seeing from your team is: "Thanks for sharing this feedback with us <name>. We're going to pass this information on to the engineering team. Please continue to leave your feedback here and upvote posts that you agree with."

I would like to see some more feedback on what you are actually doing with the feedback. Please consider my earlier suggestion and follow-up with that message on what the current status is - is it feasible? not feasible? what did the engineering team say of this suggestion?

    Thank you!

  20. Edge/Narrator reads hidden inputs and buttons

Edge: Version 80.0.361.66 (Official build) (64-bit)
OS version and Build: 1803, 17134.1304

Narrator reads hidden buttons in Microsoft Edge

The following link is a test page on Codepen.io
    https://cdpn.io/JasonAment/debug/OJVEZNp

Example (in the carousel) from the Microsoft News Site:
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/coronavirus

    Repro steps:
    1. Enable Narrator
    2. Open either link in Edge (tested in chromium)
    3. Read the page items using CAPS + Right Arrow

Expected: Buttons and inputs with aria-hidden="true" are not read or encountered with the screen reader.

Actual: The buttons and inputs with aria-hidden="true" are not hidden from assistive technology.

Note: This doesn't occur in Chrome, Firefox or IE11.
