Add customizability to narrator output options
TL:DR
-Control voice speed by words per minute instead of arbitrary % value-Highlight each word as it's voiced. Allow pausing, rewind (e.g. 10 words, 1 sentence.) and skipping ahead. Read mode where successive paragraphs are immediately started after the previous completes itself.
-More options to enable or disable actions which cause voice output (e.g. don't read paragraphs/only read paragraphs on screen, not windows names etc.)
Hi,
I think narrator is really excellent and you've done a great job making it. Thanks!
I have some suggestions for features, I expect they may be considered already, but I think they would…

Outlook Fixed Zoom for Reading Pane
When viewing Outlook in the "Compact View", please fix the zoom slider so that one can set it to a specific zoom instead of having to adjust the slider for each email.
I have found a macro that I can use to fix the zoom in emails I open, but it is easier to just view many of them in the reading pane.

Windows 10 Backup drive selection appears white on white in dark mode
In Windows 10 Backup (WINDOWS+i then update and security then backup). When "Add a drive" is chosen, a menu appears with all attached suitable backup drives. If Windows "app mode" is set to dark (Settings - personalisation - colors - choose an app mode), then the list of backup drives appears white on white.

SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog and Accessibility issues
SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog and Accessibility issues
I got an opportunity to work on a SharePoint project recently. As part of this project, we had to fix accessibility issues on a SharePoint site. Here is the list of issues I found which can be made accessible out of the box. Let me know in case of any questions.
Modal content gets rendered in an iframe but without title. iframe should have a title as per Accessibility Guidelines. If you don't, screen reader starts reading the source URL. I suggest you to provide the page name as title at least .
It is possible…

Inconsistent accessibility features in Edge and other MS apps
I was directed to come here by customer support. I had to install Windows 7 on a different hard drive just to post this! I have been a member of the "insider" program since February 14th 2015.
I have a spinal cord injury which renders my hands and arms useless. I have been disabled for 25 years. I worked with Mark Novak, at the University of Wisconsin Weisman Center, on the original Access Pack for MS-DOS and Access Pack for Windows 3.1 which is the forefather of "Ease of Access". I must use a mouthstick or voice recognition to navigate…10 votes -
Creating new lists for mail merges is not accessible
I like to use the Mail Merge feature in Microsoft Word. When I attempt to create a new list with the Alt+M,R,N key tip or edit an existing list with the alt+M,
R,E key tip, I get an accessible dialog box. When I tab through the fields. I don't get an indication of what fields I'm editing. Also, the buttons to add new entries, cancel and ok buttons aren't in the tab order.6 votes -

Add a Screen Curtin Like on IOS
In windows 10, especially on the Surface devices, the ability to turn off the screen has been disabled. The old method was to press windows+p to get to projector options, then arrow up to second screen only and press enter.
There are three reasons why having a way to turn off the screen is important:
1. Privacy and safety. As a blind user, we have no idea who could be looking at our screen and if we are writing some highly personal data in a public place, then we have no way to insure someone is not looking over our…10 votes -
Bring Siri's "What did they say" to Windows 10
One key difference I would like to see would be to have it expand the reach of the feature. Make "What did they say" work in Edge.

Give Narrator more expression.
I love the samples of Narrator I've heard but the speech pitch needs to rise and fall more in the speech's natural progression, the expression now is slightly robotic. Thanks for being interested in our ideas. I am a prospective Windows 10 user.
9 votesHello,
Thank you for the feedback. I will log this as a feature request.
Also, I wanted to let you know that you can add other SAPI5 voices to Windows 10 that can be used with Narrator that you may like better.
Thanks again for the feedback.

Voice commands for teachers
integrated voice commands in Windows 10 using Cortana, not just for accessibility but broader use, as a teacher would like to walk into a room and say, "Cortana, On Screen" then a series of events would happen to project device screen to front of the room. Say "Cortana, Blank Screen" to hide screen, in classroom say "Cortana, Show Billy's Screen" and so on. Would be many other uses for Cortana commandlets for the Internet of Things.

Make edit hyperlink dialog in word 2016 navigable by keyboard
In the edit hyperlink dialog in Word 2016, the following undesirable behaviour is observed:
Pressing tab to move between elements, as you move from the "link to: existing file or web page" to the "Text to display" edit box, the OK button loses it's default button status. This means when you press ENTER, you get an error ding and nothing happens. The OK button should remain default button.
As you press tab and move into "current folder tree view" (the list of files) - the first file is automatically selected and thus the URL you had previously used or typed…
10 votesThank you for your input. We chatted with the Word Team on these issues:
• Issue 1: Fixed. This enhancement will start rolling out to Office 365 First Release and Office Insider Customers before Fall.
• Issue 2: We are working on a fix for this issue now, thank you for your feedback. Our goal is to fix this issue as part of our commitment to accessibility.
• Issue 3: Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to fetch the browsing history from most browsers. The team is looking into other potential improvements. -
enable shared users of Office 365 not to receive messages of subscriptions ending.
include data on how to respond to incorrect messages about subscriptions ending.

Please make an audible or vibration signal to indicate when the pen is paired with the surface pro4 tablet. G
There should be a vibration or audible signal to indicate when the function key is pressed. This is particularly important for us blind jaws screen reader users. I have muted my surface many times because I didn't realize the function key was not depressed.

also greatly improve a magnifier as you have been doing with Narrator. It means that it will be comparable to other magnifiers on the market
Magnifiers like Magic, ZoomText and Supernova have a lot of great features which Windows Magnifier in Win10 should contain. It is important because many people have problems with their sight but not enough to buy a very expensive product. On the other hand many partially sited people don't have enough money to buy these products.
