  1. Xbox One - Accessibility - Audio balancing for left-right

The Xbox One already provides a lot of features in terms of accessibility.

One feature that is missing in my opinion is the option to manually balance the audio for left-right. Many Microsoft devices (e.g. phones, workstations) already offer the opportunity to balance it yourself.

The reason i'm asking is that my own hearing is slightly impaired (25-30%) on one side (right) rendering headphones practically useless for many games. In my idea this is a relative simple feature to add to the accessibility options, making the Xbox One system more and more accessible to all members in the public, including…

  2. Clinician Looking For Game Access

    Good morning!

I was instructed that this was the best venue to make this request.

My name is Bethany- I am a program assistant in the technical services department at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). The role of our department is to promote the use of adaptive technology and toys with children and youth with special needs. We were incredibly excited to purchase a couple of your adaptive gaming controllers, and we now actually have one available for loan through our Adaptive Toy & Tech Resource Centre, so that families can trial it before deciding whether it is…

  3. Playing Age of Empires: Definitive Edition Nonvisually

    Hello,
There is no topic for "Games", so I hope this goes to the correct people.
The new Age of Empires: Definitive Edition comes with self-voicing menus and narration which makes the game 85% accessible. There are a set of minor changes that need to be added, such as navigating the unit menu with the keyboard, reading tooltips when arrowing over units, making space select or click by default, and adding a grid view to the map. Other than this, all menus are completely readable, units are all labeled, there is keyboard access on everything but the unit menu and…

  4. Request for OCR in Narrator on the Xbox

Many blind gamers are streaming the Xbox screen to the computer through the Xbox app in Windows 10, and run OCR on the picture from the Xbox to read menus in games out loud. It would be fantastic if Narrator on the Xbox could do OCR on the screen in games, so blind gamers can get menus and other kind of text read out loud directly on the Xbox, instead of streaming the screen to a pc to run OCR on the screen.

  5. I'd like a follow up from the accessibility team to my earlier post.

The only response i'm seeing from your team is: "Thanks for sharing this feedback with us <name>. We're going to pass this information on to the engineering team. Please continue to leave your feedback here and upvote posts that you agree with."

I would like to see some more feedback on what you are actually doing with the feedback. Please consider my earlier suggestion and follow-up with that message on what the current status is - is it feasible? not feasible? what did the engineering team say of this suggestion?

    Thank you!

  6. Remote desktop access.

Narrator should be able to support the use of remote desktop. In a similar method to that used by Jaws. Synthesized speech would not be sent over the remote audio device to the local system, instead, the synthesizer commands would be sent back to the local synthesizer using one of the RDP protocols. This functionality is already supported in RDP. The support just needs to be added to Narrator.

  7. Sponsored/Donated Adaptive Controllers

I was really moved by the Adaptive Controller campaign. It is so amazing to see a company pushing the boundaries and making their product more inclusive.

I don't know anyone in my personal life who needs this device but I wanted to reach out and ask if you've thought about 'sponsored devices' or creating a program that allows people to purchase a device for a person who needs it. Perhaps continuing the organizational partnerships you've already established to help get the devices to the right people?

I'm not sure this is the right channel to start this discussion but I…

  8. Is there a way to connect my hearing aids to my Xbox one?

Can you make an adapter to work with my Xbox one controller/device and my Bluetooth capable hearings aids? A 1.5mm to Bluetooth transmitter in the headphone jack would work, no?

  9. Please offer trainings

Please offer trainings and machines to Child Life Specialists and Children's Hospital personnel so we can learn how to use them and offer these products to patients in and out of the hospital settings. Play is so therapeutic for children in hospitals and we try to keep their lives as normal as possible during their stay. The Superbowl commercial was well done and inspiring but it's frustrating for kids if we don't know how to play with them or teach them. It would be great!

  10. Reducing background game music and automatically control the Xbox One in complicated games for blind and visually impaired gamers

    Dear Microsoft,

I have some suggestions on improving the accessibility on Xbox One for blind and visually impaired gamers. I am a visually impaired gamer. I like to play Final Fantasy especially Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy. For Final Fantasy XIII-2, I have noticed that the background game music is very loud, and it is sometimes difficult for me to hear the character’s footsteps, depending on the music and the surface the character is navigating on. I strongly suggest for you to add an accessibility feature on the Xbox one console to have the ability to reduce background game music, so…

  11. Option to remove navigation sounds on Xbox One

As a sufferer of migraines as part of my disability, I am hoping for an option to turn off navigation noise on the xbox one: this is discussed in this forum: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/691088-xbox-one/76559013
Thank you Microsoft for your forward thinking for people with disabilities. Please fix this issue in a future patch.

  12. Microsoft Family - Screen Time

Hi, I would like to have a feature where I could give additional time to my child from the Microsoft Family home screen web site, without the need to have my kid request additional time via email.

Also, I would like to have a very granular time assignment possible outside of the predefined time templates (15, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours and 8 hours).
Sometime I just want to give 20 minutes, but in the current model this is not possible.

It would also be nice to have the ability to stop any allotted time immediately via web site.

  13. Allow mapping of Xbox Adaptive Controller Inputs to Keyboard Buttons

The Xbox Accessories app only provides the remapping of Xbox Adaptive controller buttons to other Xbox Adaptive Controller buttons.
Requesting the ability to remap the Xbox 'A' button to keyboard 'Enter' button. Xbox 'B' button to 'Spacebar', etc. There are third-party applications (e.g. reWASD) that provide this function, but that injects an unnecessary and less trustworthy layer between the user and the software.

    Background:
Without this feature in the Xbox Accessories app, the new controller cannot be used with all of the existing disability enabled software applications built to use keyboard inputs (those typically relay on the Enter / Spacebar…

  14. Xbox

My son’s new hearing Aids are Bluetooth compatible.i am looking to find away to connect to Xbox one S. He has Oticon Opn hearing Aids along with a Oticon connectclip. Very easily connects with his phone. His headset he uses with his Xbox don’t seem to work with new H.A. Looking for away to use the HA as speaker and connectclip for microphone. Any idea Since?

  15. Option to lock XAC modifiers

Love the Shift command on the XAC. Because I only have use of my head, all my inputs need to come via external switches mounted on my headrest. Since I need to hold the Shift switch down and then press another switch with only my head, I often simply can’t reach that other switch. I can’t hold two switches down at once. But if I could lock Shift (like toggle it on and off), I could press my Shift switch, then my other switch(s), then the Shift switch again. :)

  16. Change XAC profiles with external switch

I can’t use my hands at all and do everything with external switches, mounted on my headrest. This limits me to only being able to use four switches. I have a profile for playing racing games and another for navigating the Xbox UI; however, because I cannot change between these profiles, I’m confined to either my game or the Xbox UI. I need a way to change profiles so I can independently use my Xbox. :)

  17. Help Gamers with Disabilities

    Hi,

I had an idea that would not only help with PR but also help the Halo fan base. There are many players like me with disabilities that prevent us from doing well online. For example, I have something called dysgraphia. It means I have trouble with fine motor control from handwriting to, having my reticle be on a moving target, to head shots. Million of Americans have this especially children. I put a lot of time into learning the strategies for your various Halo games. After many years of practice I can hit the enemy body with difficulty but…

  18. Vibration motors

My son uses the adaptive controller, which is absolutely amazing by the way. The only thing that is really missing is the rumble force feedback that you get from regular controllers. It would be awesome to have a separate pack that had the rumble motors in it that you could Velcro to your arm or Wherever so you could feel the shots being fired from your gun. My son uses a proximity sensor so there is really no tactile feedback at all and I think if there was a way to introduce the feedback you get from the regular controllers…

  19. Xbox Controller for left hand only

My name is Mason. I am almost nine. I have cerebral palsy and can’t use my right hand to operate the Xbox controller. Is there something that can help me use the controller with only my left hand.

  20. X Box Live

I have to say in this day and age with all disabilities, whether they are physically, or mentally that you don't do access to all. my son has Tourettes syndrome and Coprolalia. Even though i have informed you of this on your x box live phone number for my sons specific account , he constantly gets banned because of this. I personally don't feel that discriminating against this is your greatest achievement.

I therefore suggest that you have a seperate play and chat facility that you monitor for children and adults with Tourettes.
