Make built-in camera for Surface devices work with eye tracking
Right now every laptop and tablet has a camera already, and Windows 10 has added compatibility with eye tracking capabilities. But we need to buy a second camera/device. Please make the cameras already installed in the Surface line (at a minimum) compatible with eye tracking so we don't need to buy and transport a second device.
I suspect the camera hardware will need an upgrade to achieve this - although the cameras required are available - they just haven't made it into most mainstream hardware yet.
If you can use head movement instead of eyes there is a mouse that uses the webcam available here: https://eviacam.crea-si.com
It works pretty well - although you do need a 30fps webcam. Its free to download and useful to have as an option to other devices you might use.
Thanks for the feedback John this is an excellent suggestion. We will be passing this onto the engineering team. In the meantime please continue to give your feedback on our products and upvote posts that you agree with.
