  1. Windows magnifier snap to pop-up alerts

Currently when using Windows Magnifier the magnifier lens stays where the cursor/mouse is positioned. If a pop-up message shows up on the screen it can be missed because that's not where the user's attention is focused. This is an issue using public computers, like at the library, where the "## minutes remaining" pop-up comes up in the bottom right of the screen. Ideal to have an option to select snap-to pop-up alerts.

  2. Enlarged Text and older Windows programs

The enlarged text facility is brilliant but unfortunately does not seem to work on the old windows things like Control Panel. Very frustrating. I also find no matter what settings I use browser apps just simply ignore these "system?" settings and of course content providers in terms of web pages are a law unto themselves.

  3. Smart Magnifier with enhanced inversion capabilities

Currently, with mangnifier inversion on, everything looks either back or whilte. I like this as it helps me to see better. On top of this, it would be great if certain colors can be 'modified' in such a way that the resulting 'Smart Inversion' will enhance user experience. For instance, I personally don't like to see white background on portions of the screen (as it tends to have 'glaring' effect on my eyes) - so, it would be great if the magnifier can be tweaked such that those portions with 'glary' background can be toned down. I think similar functionality…

  4. magnifier to follow curser with all applications

The magnifier needs to follow the cursor when typing on this website and with all applications. Thank you.

  5. windows magnifier enable all display modes i.e. full-screen, split-screen and focus

I currently use Windows 7. When I launch Windows Magnifier, it opens in split-screen mode. I don't like this mode and would always prefer full-screen mode. Unfortunately, the option to change the display mode is greyed out in Windows Magnifier settings. I have Googled the fix but this involves changing the registry file in Reg Edit. I am not willing to do this on my own computer and certainly not anyone elses. When I use other computers, some will be set to full-screen others to split-screen by default. So many computers are almost inaccessible to me. When my own screen-reader…

  7. Save Settings and be able to revert back

The new features in Windows 10 Oct 2018 are great and so good to see the recent webinar about future developments. I find the new ability to enlarge text to be very good for my Low Vision. However, with all the possible variables that can be tweaked, mouse pointers, text size, magnification, dpi, resolution etc it can be so easy to get very confused. It would be nice if we could just save all our settings at a click and have the ability the revert back easily to a known good state. After all there will be some settings in…

  8. Center Text Insertion Point When Typing

Please include an option to keep the text insertion point near the center of the screen when typing into an edit field. Currently, when typing, the cursor is often near the right edge of the screen as the screen pans right.

Including a checkbox to keep the text insertion point centered, similar to the recent Mouse Pointer center feature would be very helpful, especially when writing long documents.

  10. An audible alert for Notification bar

With magnification (or even a screen reader), it is often impossible to know that the notification bar has popped up and is awaiting some response. A simple bing sound would alert users to press Alt-N to answer the question. Ideally, focus would automatically move to the notification bar.

  11. Add enhanced pointers for Magnifier

Unlike the Magnifier in Apple OS, Windows Magnifier does not provide an extra large, enhanced pointer suitable for low vision users. Instead, Windows offers an extra large pointer pack which is ineffective for many low vision users because it is too small and lacks proper emphasis.

Additionally, the said pointer pack does not address the needs of low vision users who suffer from field-of-vision loss. Such users require additional enhancements which make it easier to continously track the cursor. Instead, Windows provides two outdated features which are ineffective for many low vision users: Press Control to locate the cursor vis…

  12. Provide an option to make the mouse cursor/insertion point centered in full screen when magnified.

Providing an option for making the mouse cursor centered when moving around the screen would negate the need for ZoomText; additionally, I'd want the functionality to apply to centering the screen around the insertion point when typing.

There has already been an idea posted here:
    https://microsoftaccessibility.uservoice.com/forums/307429-microsoft-accessibility-feedback/suggestions/17819389-improve-magnification-make-it-more-apple-like

But it seems the "- Add an option to center the mouse in the zoom area (full screen mode)" has been ignored

  13. What if Windows 10 becomes inoperable and one needs to reinstall previous version just to get access to the pc and net?

I previously upgraded to Windows 10 during the free period, then caught a virus which rendered the system inoperable.
Now there is no way to get Windows 10 back after reinstalling Win 7.
Microsoft should make some allowance for this!
I've written down some release number which goes like this:
    160915-06xx
Don't know if this is proof of having upgraded previously to Win 10 during the free period.

  14. Magnifier Improvements - Close But NO Cigar.

Adding the ability to zoom the magnifier by holding modifier keys was nice, but I find the implementation somewhat clumsy.

First, users need the ability to change the keyboard modifiers. Control-Alt is not always the best option for many users.

Second, when zoomed in, moving around on the screen is problematic. The movement is choppy and too fast. I find I often move much further than I intended. The movement needs to be slower and much smoother. A good example of how this should work can be seen by using Glass Brick - another window zooming utility.

    In a somewhat…

  15. This last upgrade took away my ability to enlarge the letters. I don't need the whole screen magnified, I just need the letters bigger!

  16. Add dates to posts on this site/page.

Posts on this site/page need dates associated with them. Without them, users have no way of knowing how long issues have been around or if MS is merely paying lip service to user concerns. Adding dates would allow users to know if MS is actively working on user concerns or dragging its feet on a particular issue.

  17. Magnifier needs variable mouse wheel scrolling zoom

The Magnifier app is nearly useless without the ability to zoom in and out using the mouse scroll wheel, in conjunction with a keyboard modifier - e.g.: shift-scroll, alt-scroll, control-scroll, etc.. Add this functionality and make the modifier key user-definable. Also, users should be able to easily toggle Magnifier on and off with a keyboard shortcut or mouse click combination. Having the ability to easily switch between full-screen and lens mode would also be helpful.

Magnifier has been around for years, but I use it only in emergencies because it's so bad. Sadly, the only options are expensive or buggy…

  18. Don't change the magnifier window to the magnifying glass icon when the window loses focus.

I suggest leaving the magnifier window as is and not changing it to the magnifying glass icon when the window looses focus.

The icon is too hard to find.

Also: it takes extra clicks to change the zoom, because you have to un-iconify the window first.

If people want the window out of the way they can always minimise it themselves.
